Our Government Funded Pre-School Program is run by our qualified Early Childhood Teacher for up to 30 children each day. Our team of experienced and qualified educators work in partnership with children and families to ensure each child reaches their maximum potential.
At Smart Start ELDC we believe all children deserve the best possible start in life. It’s why we have developed a high quality Preschool program. Our Pre-School program is designed to meet the needs of each individual child and is underpinned by the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia.
Our Pre-School Program allows you and your child to enjoy the benefits of Kindergarten within the flexibility of long day care hours as each child is supported in working towards their readiness for school through a holistic approach to learning, allowing children to engage in experiences at their own pace and in their own ways. Our program offers a number of open-ended experiences that inspire children to create their own activities and types of play
Educators promote children’s learning through meaningful, inviting and challenging experiences and they use strategies and techniques such as intentional teaching, scaffolding, questioning, shared thinking and problem solving to extend upon and challenge children’s learning. Children’s sense of agency is promoted by them being able to make choices in the program in regards to indoor / outdoor play, choices of materials and props, choices in experiences and choices at meal times about what they eat. Educators support children by having high expectations for each child allowing them to take risks and make decisions about their learning. Educators provide children with opportunities for large and small group play, allowing them to engage in tasks independently but supporting them when needed.
Our educators record each child’s learning and development in their own individual learning journal, which we encourage families to borrow throughout the year and can take home as a keepsake at the end of each year.
The Pre-School educators welcome your feedback and are available for discussion about your child's needs, interests and development at any time. Phone calls during the day are welcome to ensure you are reassured your child is having a great day.
